How Does Mentorship Take Place?

Mentorship can take place in person, by telephone, email or online discussion. Mentors and mentees develop a mentorship process that works for them.

The Mentorship Program includes:

  • A rigorous and confidential process to match mentees to high quality mentors with appropriate expertise.
  • An orientation workshop to link mentors and mentees and help them develop a mentoring plan.
  • Access to a dedicated and password-protected website with resources and supports to help mentors and mentees interact.

Our program uses the 5-Phase Mentoring Model developed by Michelle Coper and Mary Wheeler.

In our program there are four types of mentoring relationships: peer, step-ahead, traditional and inter-professional. Click on the appropriate links in the right hand panel for more detailed information on each of these types.

The link below provide some comparisons between the types of mentoring relationships.
