Developing your Career in Nursing...
At the Oncology Nursing e-Mentorship Program, we recommend that program participants assess their career development needs prior to entering into a mentoring relationship. Participating in our in-person or online career development workshop assists participants with understanding what their career and professional development needs are. Through this, one may realize that mentorship is or is not what they require at the moment. Please note that participation in these workshops earns you credits towards your de Souza Designation. Feel free to email us for more information!
What is mentoring?
Mentorship is a process in which a more skilled and experienced individual (mentor), serves as a role model that teaches, encourages, and counsels a less skilled and less experienced individual (mentee) for the purpose of promoting the latter’s personal and professional development.
What is e-Mentorship?
e-mentorship is similar to mentorship in that a more skilled individual assists a less experienced individual with their personal and professional development. The main difference is that “e” or electronic mentorship occurs with the assistance of technology such as email, Skype, online discussions, videoconferencing, and teleconferencing. The program has mentors from across Canada so these tools make communication much easier.
